Live animals are incredibly difficult to draw, as you can imagine. They are always moving - even when they are sitting still. This alpaca was lying down the entire time I was drawing. But he would turn his head every three seconds. I could draw a well detailed body with an ill defined head, but that's stupid. Instead, on one page, I kept three running sketchs of its face, one for each position it would take. I would work on one position until it moved, then work on the next. And I would rotate between these three positions until they were all complete.
Cows move more than alpacas. And pigs in the afternoon sun are great subjects.

Enjoy!
