Nationals Baseball Stadium
First time to a sports game and I had to document it. Pleasantly surprised by the carnival atmosphere, since my expectations were tainted by boring conventions I attended at stadiums. Instead of the austere and stuffy conventions, the baseball game had long lines to booths selling popcorn, hotdogs, and oversized sweetended drinks.
Somehow I expected the sports game to have the monotone announcer describing the game to a silent and focused fans as if you were watching golf on TV. Nope, the game was writhing with people cheering in response to the Jumbotron's prompts, the best parts of songs shot out of speakers under the control of a DJ with attention deficit disorder, and people were freely moving about to get food.
It was entertainment, but no one was expected to stay in their seats and be quiet out of respect for the performers. In fact, the more noise you made the more it seemed to be appreciated by, I assume, the players.
So I felt free to pay my respects in my own way - I drew it.
