Animalia: A Celebration of Biodiversity

I believe in a world of diversity among people and animals. All seven continents on our planet are rich with countless species of animals adding to the global biodiversity. Despite challenges, these species persist with their uniquely distinct body forms, colors, personalitites, lives and habits - they are the jewels of each continent worth treasuring.

Animalia celebrate the biodiversity of the animal kingdom in a series of paintings using a brilliant color palette of inks and watercolors. Overflowing the seven main pieces are additional paintings intended to hold a magnifying glass up to the animals that were too small in size, too big in personality or too many in number to be included in the main paintings.

Intentionally devoid of a background - even shadows - these peices raise awareness of what jewels could be lost if they are not treasured.

Animalia is on display now until September 25th at The Gallery @ Children's National.
